Following up on Patchy Star, this past week I worked on what I call Zigzag Star, which is a simple yet effective design. Zigzag Star finishes at 10 inches square just like Patchy Star.

But don’t let the simplicity of the block deceive you! There is still a lot of room for experimentation and customization with Zigzag Star. You can make it scrappy or use contrasting fabrics in the background and the middle.

Just like Patchy Star, this block would look great in a sampler quilt, and it would be stunning repeated for several rows in a quilt. I’ve created a couple of images below to provide you with some inspiration! 🙂
