It’s almost February, and February means hearts! To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I designed “Stand By Me,” based on a versatile block that can be turned into a lovely quilt or a pillow. All you need for each block are two 10-inch squares, one 5-inch square, some background fabric, and voila!
Above you see the pillow I made using some of my favorite Kona colors; bright pink, pomegranate, and pool. I love the transparency effect you can get with a strategic choice of fabrics. But you don’t have to go for the transparency effect. The block looks just as nice without it!
One thing I haven’t tried yet is to put my embroidery machine to good use and add the word “love” to the block. I think it would look great! What do you think?
